WAEC, NECO Age Limit: FG To Exclude Intelligent Children

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has introduced resit opportunities for candidates who were unable to pass the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

This new initiative aims to provide candidates who missed out on qualifying grades the opportunity to retake the examination and secure the necessary credits for further education.

In a statement issued on Saturday, WAEC confirmed that the resit option would be available in the upcoming examination sessions with specific details on registration and timelines to be provided shortly.

According to the body, this move is in response to concerns from stakeholders about the increasing number of candidates who fail to meet the required pass marks.

“This initiative aligns with WAEC’s commitment to ensuring that all candidates have an opportunity to succeed in the examination, regardless of any setbacks in their initial attempt,” WAEC stated.

The resit option is expected to reduce the number of candidates who have to wait a full year to reattempt the examination.

News About Nigeria gathered this also aligns with the Council’s efforts to enhance the educational system by offering flexible opportunities for students.

“We believe this measure will provide relief for candidates and allow them to continue their academic journey without unnecessary delays,” the statement added.

WAEC also reassured candidates that the resit opportunities will be administered with the same high standards as the original examinations, maintaining the integrity and credibility of the results.

With this new provision, WAEC hopes to support the educational aspirations of students and contribute to the overall improvement of educational standards in the West African region.
