NIS Explains Reason Behind Recent Hike In International Passport Fees

The United Kingdom consulate has said VFS Global will henceforth process visa applications in Nigeria, News About Nigeria reports.

According to the UK Embassy in Nigeria, this transition will lead to changes in the locations where applicants submit and collect their visa documents.

The transition will begin on November 19, 2024, when the TLScontact visa application centers in Abuja, Lagos (Ikeja), and Lagos (VI) will close.

Therefore, applications submitted at the TLScontact centers before December 13, 2024 will be securely transferred to VFS Global, while online TLScontact accounts will no longer be accessible after November 19, 2024.

In a statement shared on the Embassy’s official X account on Wednesday, it was announced that under the new arrangements applicants will now visit one of three designated centres in Abuja and Lagos for their visa-related needs.

The Embassy explained that these changes are part of ongoing efforts to streamline and enhance the visa application process in the country. Applicants will be notified via email with further instructions regarding the changes.

The statement reads: “The supplier of our visa application centres in Nigeria is changing. During this transition, some customers may submit and collect their documents from different locations. You will be contacted via email if this affects you.”

As part of this transition, VFS Global, now responsible for UK visa applications in Nigeria, has provided new addresses for its visa application centres in Abuja and Lagos.

Applicants are encouraged to book appointments online, as walk-ins will not be accepted during the transition period.

The statement further reads: “We are pleased to announce that customers in Nigeria can now visit our UK Visa Application Centres in Abuja and Lagos for a hassle-free start to their journey at the addresses below:

Abuja: Mezzanine Floor, Tower C, Churchgate Plaza, Plot 473, Cadastral Zone AO, Constitution Avenue, Central Business District.

Lagos (Ikeja): 2nd Floor, Ile Oja Opebi Mall, Opebi Link Road.

Lagos (Victoria Island): 2nd Floor, Churchgate Plaza Tower 2, PC 31 Churchgate Street.

“Don’t forget to book an appointment before your visit. Appointments can be scheduled online through the official website to ensure a smooth experience during the visa application process. Customers must follow the appointment procedure, as walk-ins may not be accepted at these centres.”
