Ondo Polls: Minister Rallies Behind Aiyedatiwa

Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, revealed on Friday that the state will commence payment of the newly approved N73,000 minimum wage to workers in November.

News About Nigeria gathered that the governor made the announcement during the 2024 Public Service Week celebration in the state.

Speaking to workers at the event, Aiyedatiwa assured them they would receive the new minimum wage this month.

He also pledged his administration’s commitment to the welfare of civil servants in the state.

He said, “A committee was set up to work out the implementation structure of the minimum wage, and now that it has just been concluded, I will give the necessary approval for the payment of N73,000 to begin. Anything we have done for civil servants has never been politically driven. If workers are not happy, they won’t be encouraged to put maximum effort into their work. That is why we have always prioritized their welfare. We shall begin the payment of the new minimum.”

He, therefore, urged the workers to continue diligently doing their jobs and to partner with his administration for the growth of Ondo.

The state Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Clement Fatuwase, expressed confidence in Aiyedatiwa fulfilling his promise to the workers.

He also pledged civil servants’ continuous support for the governor, adding that Aiyedatiwa has consistently proven that he prioritizes the interests of workers and the people of Ondo State.
