'IPOB Not Behind Monday, Tuesday Sit-At-Home' - Spokesperson

On Monday, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) denied declaring a sit-at-home exercise for October 21 and 22 in any part of South-East, News About Nigeria reports.

The pro-Biafra group noted that it always makes public announcements when it declares a sit-at-home.

The group, therefore, urged the general public to ignore what it described as an “obnoxious order” from criminals allegedly working to demonise IPOB.

The clarification was made in a statement by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, on Monday.

In the statement, Powerful explained that it is not in the nature of the group to enforce sit-at-home orders without a valid reason.

He stated: “IPOB did not order a two-day sit-at-home, and we don’t want to create panic over such inconsequential directives from infiltrators. We chose not to issue a press statement on an inconsequential order from these infiltrators. IPOB is not in the habit of threatening Ndigbo. Whenever we declare a sit-at-home, we make it public. Our people should ignore such obnoxious orders from criminals working for the government to tarnish the peaceful image of the IPOB movement.”

“We urge our people to ignore the order and go about their normal business on those days. IPOB does not want to talk about it because we don’t want to create panic over the matter. Biafrans must understand that IPOB does not declare unnecessary sit-at-home. We have since suspended it and anybody declaring it is a criminal element that should be ignored. We didn’t want to talk about it again in order to avoid giving undue popularity to the inconsequential order from Finland-based infiltrators.”
