Zwingina Found Peace In His Final Moment – Son

Kabr Zwingina, the son of late Senator Jonathan Zwingina, has shared that his father found peace in his final moments, revealing that Zwingina had prayed with Reverend Tom just before passing, News About Nigeria reports.

The Adamawa State-born politician died on Wednesday, October 2, at the age of 70 in the nation’s capital, Abuja, after a protracted illness.

Kabr said, “I want to give a testimony about his last moments. I called Reverend Tom and said we should meet at the hospital, when we got there, we felt things were off. So, he ( Reverend Tom) led us in prayers of salvation, and forgiveness, and right after that barely 20 seconds later, my dad passed.”

He said this at a solemn service held at the First Baptist Church in Garki, Abuja, on Wednesday, where political figures, family members, and friends gathered to pay tribute to the late Senator Jonathan Zwingina, who passed away on October 3, shortly after his 70th birthday.

The event was marked by tributes from prominent figures who celebrated Zwingina’s legacy in Nigerian politics and his reputation for integrity and excellence.

Former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana, described the late senator as a “man of vision,” recounting his instrumental role in Nigeria’s democratic journey and early days of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Longtime friend Boss Mustapha, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, reflected on his friendship with Zwingina, describing him as a “towering figure” in Adamawa State politics whose wisdom would continue to inspire future generations.

Former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang also praised Zwingina’s work ethic and intelligence, recalling their first meeting over 40 years ago.

Other dignitaries, including former Senate President David Mark and former Edo State Governor Senator Oserheimen Osunbor, attended the service, alongside high-profile politicians such as Senator Binta Garba, Senator Patrick Ndubueze, and Labaran Maku.
