An Inspector of Police, Mohammed Bulama, attached to Police Mobile Force (PMF) 41 in Yobe State, has been arrested for killing a 39-year-old man identified as Abdulmalik Dauda in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
News About Nigeria reports that the tragedy occured when Bulama was involved in a bitter argument with his victim over “uncleared transactions” at the Zango area in Damaturu.
According to eyes witness report, the Inspector of Police stabbed Dauda in his chest after struggle to collect N200 bribe from him which the deceased refused to give to him.
Confirming the incident in a statement on Wednesday, the police spokesperson in the state, Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed that the incident occurred on September 29, 2024.
He also noted that the suspect has been arrested while investigations into the homicide case have commenced.
The statement partly reads, “The Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Ahmed, has ordered the immediate investigation into the homicide incident involving Inspector Mohammed Bulama, attached to Police Mobile Force PMF 41 Division Damaturu.”
Also, CP Garba Ahmed, who condemned Bulama’s actions, expressed condolences to Dauda’s family praying that God would give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also assured the general public that the Police will ensure that justice is dispensed.
“CP Garba Ahmed condemns Bulama’s actions and expresses condolences to Dauda’s family. He assures the public of a thorough and swift investigation, ensuring justice is served. The Nigeria Police Force will not tolerate any misconduct from its personnel. We will ensure that justice is served and the perpetrator is held accountable.”
