President Tinubu To Address Nigerians On Independence Day

President Bola Tinubu will deliver a nationwide broadcast at 7 am on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

News About Nigeria reports that the announcement for the nationwide broadcast which is in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence was done by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a statement on Monday.

The statement is titled, ‘October 1st 2024 Independence Day: President Tinubu addresses the nation,’ reads, “Television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are encouraged to connect to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria for the broadcast.”

Meanwhile, the organisers of the #FearlessInOctober protests have refused to oblige to calls for them to shelve the planned protest which is scheduled to kickstart tomorrow.

The organisers have also gone ahead to announce the convergence venues and times for the nationwide event, which aims to shine a light on pressing issues like hunger and economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The convergence points according to the organisers of the protest include “Abuja: Eagle Square at 7.00 am; Lagos: Ikeja Under Bridge at 7:30 am; Oyo State: Mokola Roundabout, Ibadan at 8.00 am; Rivers State: Pleasure Park, Port Harcourt at 7:30 am; Borno: Arewa Youth For Peace Office, Damaturu Road at 8:00 am; Yobe: Damaturu Main Roundabout, opposite Old Motor Park to Maiduguri Road at 8:00 am and Kwara: Ilorin Post Office Under-bridge at 8:00 am.”

The planned protest is a continuation of the August #EndBadGovernance protests which was held from August 1 -10.

The protesters are demanding an end to bad governance in Nigeria.
