Popular Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso, has passed away, News About Nigeria reports.
The news of her death was announced on Tuesday morning by Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh, a respected cleric based in Ilorin, through his official Facebook page.
Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and a relative of the deceased, also confirmed the tragic news.
In a tweet, he quoted a verse from the Quran, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return” (Quran 2:156).
Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was celebrated for her soulful voice and religious songs, which resonated deeply within the Muslim community.
While details surrounding her death are still unclear at the time of this report, her passing has left many in mourning.
