The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2024 SSCE internal results, News About Nigeria reports.

The release of the results was made public on Thursday by NECO’s Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi, while speaking to newsmen in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Giving details on the released results, Wushishi revealed that 828,284 candidates passed with five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, which represented 60.55% of the 1,367,736 candidates that sat for the examination.

He further disclosed that 8,437 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice as against 22,030 in 2023.

The NECO Registrar also noted that the exam body has blacklisted 21 supervisors in 12 states and de-recognised one school in Ekiti State for mass cheating in two core subjects and one science subject.

According to him, the supervisors were recommended for blacklisting due to poor supervision, aiding and abetting, abscondment, extortion, drunkenness, and negligence.

He said, “40 schools were found to have been involved in whole-school mass cheating in 17 states, adding that the schools will be invited to the council for discussion after which appropriate sanctions will be applied. One school in Ekiti was recommended for de-recognition for mass cheating in 2 core subjects and 01 science subject.”

Wushsihi, who tasked candidates to check their results on the NECO website, gave the number of people who sat for the 2024 NECO to be 1,376,423 with 706,950 being males and 669,473 females and 2267 of them being candidates with special needs.

The professor also restates the national examination body’s commitment to ensuring that the system is rid of malpractice and those who sponsor it directly or indirectly.
