The Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has immediately dissolved the interim management committees of the state’s 44 local government areas.
News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
He said the governor announced the dissolution of the committee during a valedictory meeting with members of the committee at Africa House, Government House.
Abba Kabir Yusuf appreciated the outgoing Interim Management Committee members for their commitment to steering the affairs of the local governments for half a year.
The governor also commended them for assisting the state government in the implementation of its policies and programmes at the grassroots level.
He assured that the Kano State Government will continue to reckon with and carry them along in the state engagements for the benefit of the people of Kano.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf directed the Interim management committees to handover the affairs of their respective areas to Directors of personnel management (DPMs)
He stated that the DPMs will run the councils pending the local government elections coming up on the 26th of October this year.
He called on the Directors Personnel Management to be transparent and adhere strictly to rules and regulations guiding their conducts as the overseers of local governments in the state.
Recall that the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission had announced the rescheduling of the local government election to October 26.
The commission had earlier scheduled the polls for November 30.

He said the decision is in recognition and conformity with the recent Supreme Court judgement that granted autonomy to Local Governments.
