President Tinubu Arrives Abuja After Two-week Trip To China, UK

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja following his two-week official trip to China and the United Kingdom (UK).

News About Nigeria reports that Bayo Onanuga, the special adviser on information and strategy to the president, announced Tinubu’s return to the country in a post on his X page on Monday.

The presidential aide disclosed that Tinubu was received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by senior government officials and heads of security agencies.

Some of the members include George Akume, secretary to the government of the federation; Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff to the president; Nuhu Ribadu, national security adviser; and Nyesom Wike, minister of federal capital territory.

Recall that Tinubu left Abuja for China on August 29. The president stopped in Dubai before arriving in Beijing on September 1.

During his trip, Tinubu met Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the two leaders signed five Nigeria-China memoranda of understanding (MoU).

The MOUs signed by President Tinubu while in China were the Cooperation Plan between Nigeria and China, which was to jointly promote the Belt and Road Initiative, cooperation in the peaceful application of nuclear energy, and strengthening cooperation on human resource development under the Global Development Initiative.

Others were the Memorandum of Understanding on Media Exchange and Cooperation and the Memorandum of Understanding between China Media Group and the Nigerian Television Authority.

Tinubu said he was committed to replicating Chinese infrastructure in Nigeria.

The president left Beijing for London and met with King Charles III.

Olusegun Dada, special assistant to the president on social media, said on September 21 that Tinubu and King Charles discussed issues related to climate change and action.
