NMDPRA: Massive Petrol Boost Expected As Dangote Refinery Unleashes 25 Million Litres

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has said that the Dangote oil refinery will supply a total of 25 million litres of petrol to the Nigerian market in September.

News About Nigeria reports that the oil regulatory authority said this in a statement on Tuesday.

The regulatory agency said that it also expected to rise by 30 million litres from September.

In a terse statement, the NMDPRA said it met with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to agree on local crude supply to the refinery.

“At the NMDPRA headquarters in Abuja, NNPCL reached an agreement to commence crude oil sale and supply to Dangote Refinery in local currency.

“The refinery is now poised to supply an initial 25 million litres of PMS into the domestic market this September. And will subsequently increase this amount to 30 million litres daily from October 2024,” the NMDPRA said.

Earlier today, the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, officially declared that the 650,000-capacity oil refinery in Lagos has commenced petrol production.

Dangote said that this development is a major achievement for Nigeria, marking the end of a long period of reliance on imported fuel.

“This refinery will fuel growth, development, and prosperity by supplying energy to our people,” said Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, during a press briefing on Tuesday.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu’s administration for fostering an environment conducive to the success of the initiative.

“I salute the people of Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu’s government for creating the conditions that allowed us to achieve this monumental task. This refinery will drive growth, development, and prosperity by providing energy to our people,” Dangote said.
