Six people have reportedly lost their lives in an accident along the Lagos Ibadan expressway, News About Nigeria reports.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun State confirmed this in a statement on Friday.
It was gathered that the accident involved a truck and a Toyota Sienna at Verony, Ogere, at 7.40 a.m.
Okpe stated that the accident occurred and involved a Toyota Sienna marked EPE 692 EL and a truck that could not be identified, as the truck did not stop.
According to her, the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of the Sienna spacebus, which rammed into a moving truck from the rear.
She disclosed that two men and seven women were involved in the accident, adding that six people died while three others were left with carrying degrees of injuries.
She added that the injured were taken to the hospital, and the bodies of the deceased were deposited in the morgue.
“Two men and seven women were involved in the accident. Unfortunately, two men and four women died, while three women sustained injuries.
“The injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere. The deceased were deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara,” she stated.
The Sector Commander, FRSC, Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable act if proper caution was fully put in place by the driver.
He urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving and also appealed to drivers to always obey traffic rules and regulations to prevent loss of lives.
