The Katsina State Police Command has announced that it rescued a yet-to-be-identified girl, from being kidnapped in Faru village, Jibia Local Government Area of the State, News About Nigeria reports.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

He noted that the kidnapping attempt had been foiled by the police operatives after the command received a distress call in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Sadiq mentioned that the DPO promptly organised a joint team of operatives, working together with members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilante groups, and they swiftly responded to the scene.

According to him, the girl was rescued despite a gun duel between the bandits and the police, which left the bandits with various degrees of injuries.

He added that efforts are being made to arrest the suspects and make them face the wrath of the law.

The statement reads in part, “Today, August 29, 2024, at about 0115 hrs, a distress call was received at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters on a bandits attack on Faru village, Jibia LGA, kidnapping one person.

“Instantaneously, the DPO Jibia mobilised a joint team of operatives in collaboration with members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, members of the vigilante and responded to the scene.

“The team valiantly engaged the assailants in a gun duel, successfully rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt, and foiled the attack as the assailants fled the scene with various degrees of bullet injuries.

“Efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
