Navy Officer Apprehended For Murder

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has apprehended naval personnel, Able Seaman Abdulrashid Mohammed, over the murder of an ex-naval chief, Vice Admiral Ishaya Iko Ibrahim, News About Nigeria reports.

The FCT Police Commissioner, Benneth Igweh, disclosed this, stating that the suspect was a guard at the home of a former Chief of Naval Staff.

He disclosed that the Navy Rating robbed Aminu Ibrahim, the son of the former CNS at Maitama, of the SUV and subsequently opened fire on him, killing him instantly, on August 18, 2024.

The 30-year-old suspect was, however, arrested four days after the police launched a manhunt for him at Apo Mechanic Village, where he had taken the Prado Jeep to be sold and cannibalised into parts.

The Naval Rating, during interrogations, confessed that he killed Aminu Ibrahim because he recognised him, having worked in their house as a guard in their residence; hence, he shot at him point blank.

Igweh further stated that unknown to the Able Seaman, police detectives were tracking the SUV and waiting for him to bring out the vehicle before they pounced on him.

He stated, “The suspect had on 18 August, robbed Aminu Ibrahim, the son of the former CNS at Maitama, of the SUV and subsequently opened fire on him, killing him instantly.
