Drug Dealers, Cultists Arrested In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has reportedly arrested six suspects for their alleged involvement in drug dealing and cultism, News About Nigeria reports. 

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

She noted that the suspects were arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout in the Afaha Offiong community of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, adding that the suspects are all males.

According to John, those arrested during the raid were Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.

She further noted that the raid was carried out by the command’s operatives, who acted following the directives of the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara.

The PPRO also disclosed that two bags containing substances suspected to be Indian hemp, cocaine, and some cocktail concoctions were recovered by the police operatives during the raid.

She, however, assured the people that the investigation had commenced, adding that other members of the syndicate who fled would also be apprehended.

She stated, “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its sustained efforts towards making the state safe, secure, and uncomfortable for criminals, has raided a criminal hideout in the Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

“The raid was carried out by the Command’s operatives who acted following directives of the Commissioner of Police of Akwa Ibom, CP Waheed Ayilara upon intelligence reports available at the Command’s disposal about nefarious activities in a section of the community.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest fleeing members of the syndicate.”
