The Emir of Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa Muhammad Danyaya, has passed away.
News About Nigeria reports that his death occurred on Sunday in Kano, where he had sought medical care due to health issues related to his advanced age.
The Emirate’s Secretary, Alhaji Usman Sule, made the official announcement of his demise.
The funeral rites for the late Emir will take place on Sunday evening at 4 pm, preceded by a prayer session at the Emir’s Palace in Ningi.
Alhaji Yunusa was a highly esteemed traditional ruler in the Northeast Geographical Zone, renowned for his unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and equity.
During his reign, Ningi underwent a remarkable transformation from a rural settlement to a thriving modern town.
Born in 1936 in Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa embarked on his educational journey at a local elementary school, progressing to middle school in Bauchi, and later pursuing higher education at Ahmadu Bello University, where he earned a diploma in public administration.
Alhaji Yunusa’s distinguished career spanned various roles in the Native Authority Administration, including dispenser, councillor, and district head.
He later transitioned to the private sector, holding key positions at the Nigerian Tobacco Company and the Northern Nigeria Marketing Board.
His ascension to the throne of Ningi in 1978 marked the beginning of a new era, culminating in his elevation to first-class status in 1998.
Alhaji Yunusa played pivotal roles in numerous organisations and served on several boards, earning him numerous accolades and honours for his contributions to national development.
As a seasoned traveller, Alhaji Yunusa explored various countries, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, and several West African nations.
He delighted in horse riding, farming, and travelling, and was blessed with a large family of twenty-four children.
