Police Rescue Girl From Being Kidnapped In Katsina

The Imo State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit has busted a kidnapping syndicate that is terrorising Obinze and Avu communities.

News About Nigeria reports that they rescued a 26-year-old woman who was abducted from her residence in Obinze on August 18.

The police responded quickly to the kidnapping report and activated the anti-kidnapping unit to track down the kidnappers.

The police commissioner deployed the unit with all the necessary resources to catch the kidnappers and rescue the victim.

The operatives found the kidnappers in a forest hideout in Avu and rescued the victim safely.

Five suspects were arrested, and they had a gun, cartridges, daggers, a cutlass, and items believed to be charms.

The suspects confessed to being part of a notorious kidnapping gang that terrorised Obinze, Avu, and surrounding areas.

The police are still investigating to catch the remaining gang members.

In another incident, police arrested Nwauba Alex, 25, from Ebonyi state, for robbing two residents at gunpoint in Owerri.

The suspect had a locally made pistol, live ammunition, and torchlights.

The suspect admitted to the robbery and said he bought the shotgun from someone in Ebonyi state.

“The suspect was caught in the act of robbing two residents at gunpoint near Aladinma Primary School, Owerri. During the arrest, one locally made pistol, two rounds of live ammunition, and torchlights were recovered from the suspect and the victims were rescued unharmed.”

The police said its operatives are trying to find and arrest the gun manufacturers.

The suspect will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.

This operational breakthrough shows the police command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the state.
