We Have No Hand In The Death Of Sokoto Emir – Miyetti Allah

Peter Obi has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of Sarkin Gobir, Alhaji Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sabon Birni Local Government of Sokoto State, who was brutally killed by bandits after being held captive for several weeks.

News About Nigeria reported that Alhaji Isa Bawa and his son were abducted in July while travelling from Sokoto to Sabon Birni.

According to reports, bandits ambushed their vehicle, forcing it to crash.

The attackers then seized the Emir and his son, who also served as his driver.

In a distressing video released by the bandits, the Sarkin Gobir was seen pleading for his life and appealing to the government for help.

Despite his desperate pleas, no effective intervention occurred, and the bandits ultimately executed him.

The heartbreaking video and the news of his death were shared on social media on Wednesday by an X user known as Idris4Peace.

Reacting to the incident on his X account, Peter Obi expressed deep shock and sadness, saying, “I received with deep shock and sadness, the news of the brutal murder of the Emir of Gobir, Alhaji Isa Bawa, who was kidnapped and killed by bandits after a ₦60 million ransom demand was not met.

“This incident highlights once again the escalating insecurity in Nigeria, where even a revered figure like the Emir can be subjected to such treatment. The unchecked killings have gone on for far too long, leading to this tragic point. I urge security agencies to intensify their efforts to address this growing menace..

Obi also extended his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Gobir, and the entire Sokoto State.

He prayed for Allah to forgive the Emir’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannat al-Firdaus (paradise) as his final abode.
