The Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, hosted a team of delegations seeking his daughter’s hand in marriage in his Asokoro residence in Abuja.
News About Nigeria reports that the team which was led by the former Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, comprises the family members of Kashim Imam.
Their visit was made public by the Special Assistant (Broadcast Media) to H.E Atiku Abubakar, AbdulRasheed Shehu, in a statement released on Wednesday.
In the statement, Shehu revealed that their visit was to formally request the hand of Atiku’s daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage.
The statement further disclosed that the occasion was attended by prominent dignitaries, including National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and former governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, among others.
He further noted that the visit shows the calibre of man the former vice president is and the high esteem with which he is held.
The statement said, “His Excellency Atiku Abubakar welcomed the family of Kashim Imam, led by former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, to his Asokoro residence. The delegation came to formally request the hand of his daughter, Hafsat Atiku Abubakar, in marriage.
“Prominent dignitaries at the event include the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and former governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State among others. The mini gathering was a testament to the esteem in which His Excellency Atiku Abubakar is held, and the significance of the occasion.”
