Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, one-half of the popular music duo P-Square, has addressed the recent allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), clarifying that he never filed a petition against his twin brother, Paul Okoye.
Instead, he stated that his petition was directed against their elder brother, Jude Okoye, amid ongoing disputes within the family.
News About Nigeria reported that the controversy first came to light in June when Nigerian celebrity journalist Stella Dimokokorkus reported that the twin brothers were in conflict over joint funds allegedly diverted by Jude Okoye, who also serves as the group’s music executive.
In a recent interview with City FM Lagos, Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, claimed that Peter had involved the EFCC in their family dispute, leading to the arrest of both him and Jude.
However, Peter responded on Monday, denying that he had ever taken any legal action against his twin brother.
Peter explained that the three brothers manage Northside Entertainment, the company responsible for all P-Square affairs.
However, he discovered a separate company with a similar name, Northside Music, which he found was secretly established by Jude and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, using her family home as the registered address.
Shocked by this revelation, Peter consulted his lawyers and filed a petition against Jude, not Paul, after learning that huge sums of money were allegedly being diverted into Northside Music’s accounts from their joint company, Northside Entertainment.
Peter further disclosed that the EFCC investigation confirmed that Jude’s secret company had been collecting royalties meant for Northside Entertainment for years.
During questioning, Jude reportedly implicated Paul, which led to the EFCC’s involvement with his twin brother.
Peter stated that his actions were solely aimed at addressing the financial mismanagement and were not intended to target Paul.
