Clark Petitions IGP To Arrest Wike, Charge Him For Treason

Protesters in Rivers State have reportedly stormed the residence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Moving in mass, the protesters who are demonstrating against the hike in the cost of living and bad governance in the country were chanting an anti-Wike song.

In a viral video on social media, the protesters were captured insulting and berating the former Rivers State Governor, saying, “Wike ole.”

Also, another video showed them singing the old national anthem in solidarity while carrying placards with various inscriptions.

News About Nigeria reports that the protesters were not able to gain access to the house of the Minister as it was guarded by heavy security personnel wielding rifles.

Recall that the ongoing nationwide protest against hunger and bad governance started on August 1, 2024.

The aim of the protest, according to the demonstrators, is to get the federal government to listen to their demands and also fix the current hunger, hardship, and other economic challenges bedevilling the nation.

The protesters have also refused to suspend the ongoing protest despite President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast on Sunday, urging them to suspend the action because his administration is working tirelessly to meet their demands.

In the speech, the president defended his decision to remove fuel subsidies and reform the foreign exchange system, stating these actions were necessary to “reverse the decades of economic mismanagement.”

He also listed the various measures that have been put in place by his administration to ensure that they deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
