Shehu Sani Asks FG To Impose Fine On Eligible Voters With PVC Who Refuse To Vote During Elections

Shehu Sani, a senator who represented the Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, has called on the organisers of the nationwide protest to discontinue the action in the interest of the nation.

In a statement released on his X account, he lamented that the protest has gone violent and that the lives and properties of citizens are no longer safe.

Senator Sani noted that the situation where hoodlums hijacked the protest was unacceptable.

He further expressed disappointment over the manner in which hoodlums hijacked the protest and destroyed the properties of innocent citizens in Kaduna, Kano, and other parts of the country yesterday (Thursday).

The statement reads, “With scores dead, hundreds injured and properties worth billions of Naira belonging to private businesses and government destroyed by hoodlums, mostly in Northern states, those wishing to encourage the continuation of this protest, especially in the North should reconsider. At our end its violent protest without visible leadership and must be discontinued.”

He noted that although the protest is a constitutional right of Nigerians, it is meant to be peaceful without any threat to life or property, adding that the current violence is the reason why it should be discontinued.

News About Nigeria reported that violence erupted in places like Kano, Kaduna, Yobe, Borno, and Jigawa among others yesterday, which happened to be the first day of the protest against hunger and bad governance.

Hoodlums took over the protest in these areas causing violence as they looted both government and privately owned establishments.
