The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has expressed concerns about the planned hunger protest scheduled for August 1-10, warning that it may be exploited by criminal elements such as bandits and insurgents, News About Nigeria reports.

Instead of protesting, Akume urged Nigerians to engage with the government through alternative means to ensure the current administration fulfills its promises.

Akume stated that the government is cautious about protests, which can be vulnerable to hijacking by criminals, and suggested dialogue as a more effective approach.

He noted that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration is working to address the country’s challenges and that demonstrations are not the solution.

Akume appealed to Nigerians to prioritise peace and progress, assuring them that the government recognises the right to peaceful protest but emphasises the need for vigilance.

He encouraged citizens to pursue dialogue and collaboration in addressing the country’s challenges, promising that the government will create an environment where peace, stability, and economic growth can thrive.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation highlighted the administration’s goals, including economic prosperity, peace, and stability.

He acknowledged the challenges inherited by the administration, such as an economy in need of reform and a security situation requiring attention.

Akume noted that the administration has made significant progress in addressing these challenges, including policy reforms and security upgrades.

Akume emphasised President Tinubu’s commitment to effective leadership and his vision for a prosperous Nigeria.

He highlighted the administration’s accomplishments, including laying the foundation for immediate, medium, and long-term prosperity for all Nigerians.

Akume urged Nigerians to engage with the government through dialogue and collaboration, rather than protesting, to ensure the administration’s promises are fulfilled.

He emphasised the need for peace, stability, and vigilance, assuring citizens that the government is working towards economic prosperity and a secure environment.
