A 30-year-old man, Aminu Mohammed, has been arrested by police operatives from the Tafawa Balewa housing estate Divisional Police Headquarters (C) Division for impersonating Nigerian Army personnel.
News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement on Thursday issued by Ahmed Wakil, the Bauchi Police spokesperson.
The statement said Mohammed had been pretending to be a military officer for two years, collecting N210,000 from an unsuspecting individual with promises of securing a job in the Nigerian Army.
The victim was directed to meet Mohammed’s friend in Zaria to facilitate entry into the military training school, but after eight days, the victim was unable to meet the individual.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed had never served or worked with the military and had obtained a pair of camouflage trousers from a serving military personnel friend.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a discreet investigation at the state criminal investigation department to uncover more facts for prosecution.
Wakil added that the arrest was made on July 22, 2024, following a complaint filed against Mohammed, who is now facing charges for violating sections 110(1) and 251 of the criminal code.

One Abubakar Nuhu, aged 50, popularly known as Wanzam of Gwallagan Mayaka, was arrested for inhumanely treating his biological son.
According to a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the command received a complaint from the ward head of the Gwallagan Mayaka area of Bauchi that a resident of the ward revealed that “his wife Amina (not real name) who informed him that she saw a 5-year-old boy of their neighbours tied with a chain inside a room.
