The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has addressed the recent rumours and misinformation circulating on social media regarding the sale of the Falomo Barracks land in Lagos State.
News About Nigeria reports that this is contained in a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The NPF clarified that the allegations are false and mischievous.
According to the statement, the NPF leadership has partnered with sub-national governments and reputable developers to redevelop the dilapidated barracks, including Falomo Barracks, into modern facilities with complementary infrastructure.
The redevelopment project aims to improve the living conditions of police personnel and their families, which is a key focus of the current police administration.
The occupants of Falomo Barracks Blocks A and B have received a temporary relocation allowance of two million naira (N2,000,000) each to facilitate their relocation during the redevelopment process.
News About Nigeria understands that this payment has been made to 347 families after a validation process.
The force spokesperson stated that the redevelopment project is not limited to Falomo Barracks alone but will be implemented across all police barracks nationwide.
The Force reassured that the improvement of facilities is a priority and steps are being taken to address the issues effectively.
The statement warned that the claims of the barracks being vacated and the land being sold are false and a calculated attempt to cause unnecessary discord within the ranks of the NPF.
The police spokesperson urged the public to disregard the misinformation and assured that the redevelopment project would benefit police personnel and their families.
