Senator Ndume Kicks Against Hike In Electricity Tarif

The former Senate Chief Whip, Mohammed Ali Ndume, on Friday revealed why he rejected the new position of chairing the Committee on Tourism that was offered him by the Senate.

Speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, the lawmaker explained that he rejected the position because he is not a tourist and is not in any way good in tourism.

Ndume said, “As for the Chairman Senate Committee on Tourism offered to me, I want to say that I am not a tourist and not good in tourism. As it is, I have spent over 10 years without going to any foreign countries. I have never been to the United Kingdom, UK. Even the United States of America which I went was when I was schooling there.”

Speaking on his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the lawmaker noted that he will never leave the party except his constituents, who elected him, ask him to do so.

News About Nigeria reported that the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC removed Senator Ndume (APC, Borno South) as Chief Whip over his comments on President Bola Tinubu.

The lawmaker, however, lauded the president on the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage.

He also lamented that with the current economy, it was little compared to a 50kg bag of rice.

“I am happy; yesterday the President approved the minimum wage to N70,000 only. It is a good move. But the minimum wage is still minimal compared to a 50kg bag of rice which costs over N70,000,” he stated.
