Rivers Crisis: Wike Disrespected You – Dele Momodu Tells President Tinubu

Renowned journalist and former presidential candidate Dele Momodu has called for stricter discipline within President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly in light of the ongoing political situation in Rivers State, News About Nigeria reports.

Momodu conveyed his concerns in an open letter to President Tinubu, which he shared on social media platform X.

In his letter, Momodu stressed the need for strong leadership and discipline. “You must enforce discipline as a leader,” he stated, addressing the actions of Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State and current Federal Capital Territory minister.

He said that Wike publicly disrespected the president in the context of the political tension with the current Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

“Your new disciple, Nyesom Wike, has publicly disrespected you in the Fubara matter,” Momodu wrote.

The political discord between Wike and Fubara has been escalating, raising concerns about potential instability.

Momodu warned of severe consequences if the situation is not managed promptly.

“You need to sanction him before he throws Nigeria into total chaos,” he urged.

He also criticised Tinubu for what he sees as reckless spending by the administration.

“Nigeria is in big trouble. Our economy has virtually collapsed. And what’s the way out? You’ve been wasting too much money at a time that requires absolute frugality. Please, stop this reckless propensity for wasting scarce resources,” he implored.

Momodu specifically criticised expenditures such as purchasing presidential jets, building extravagant monuments, and distributing cash as palliatives.

He argued that such spending reflects a “failed and careless government” and suggested that curbing these expenses could free up resources for critical development projects.

He urged the administration to focus on performance rather than extravagant spending as a strategy for securing a second term.

Momodu further cautioned President Tinubu about the influence of sycophants, particularly in the National Assembly.

He advised the president to be wary of those who idolise him, suggesting that Senator Ali Ndume is a trustworthy advisor.

“In the name of God, beware of those hero-worshippers at the National Assembly who have turned you into God. NDUME is your best friend. Listen to him. There’s danger ahead,” he warned.
