FG Announces Release of 2024 NECO Common Entrance Examination Results For Unity Schools

The federal government has announced the release of the results for the 2024 National Examination Council (NECO) Common Entrance Examination for Unity Schools.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, during a press briefing at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

Dr. Sununu disclosed that a total of 71,291 candidates participated in the 2024 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), which was conducted in 599 centres on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

According to NECO data, Lagos State had the highest number of candidates, with 17,751 students, followed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with 10,209 candidates and Anambra State with 4,972 candidates.

Earlier this year, NECO announced that 67.35% of candidates who sat for the 2023 Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) secured five credits, including mathematics and English language.

This announcement was made by NECO Registrar, Professor Ibrahim Wushishi, during the release of results at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

News About Nigeria reported that out of the 74,950 candidates (39,213 males and 35,737 females) who participated in the exams held from November 20 to December 20, 2023, a total of 50,066 candidates achieved the benchmark of five credits in both Mathematics and English Language.

Breaking down the subject-specific results, Professor Wushishi revealed that 75.59% of the 73,124 candidates who took the English Language exam secured credits and above.

In mathematics, 92.75% of the 73,119 candidates, amounting to 67,814 students, achieved credit and above.

Additionally, 84.11% of candidates (62,530 students) obtained five credits, regardless of their performance in Mathematics and English Language.
