The All Progressive Congress (APC) has vowed to put an end to the marginalisation of Igbos in its party, News About Nigeria reports.
The National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, disclosed this while speaking during the APC South East zonal meeting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Sunday.
He noted that the party has already begun the moves to achieve the de-marginalisation of Igbos in its politics and ensure that they are placed in the limelight of national politics.
He stated that Igbos have shown massive support to the party and the President Bola Tinubu-led administration presently, adding that Ebonyi has followed Imo’s trail in massively promoting the party’s activities and he thanked Gov. Francis Nwifuru for sustaining the party’s ideals in the state.
“The present appointments offered to the zone by President Bola Tinubu’s administration are heartwarming and with more involvement in the party’s affairs, more would be achieved.
“We must break this cycle of marginalisation with determination, unity, and total support for the party and the Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“The challenge before us presently is how to claim Anambra, Enugu, and Abia, and must get all stakeholders together to achieve this goal, he stated.
The APC national chairman said that a line must be drawn between marginalisation and the low performance of the southeast in the APC, and assured them that the party will break the vicious cycle of marginalisation.
Also speaking, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor Francis Nwifuru, noted that Ebonyi had a policy of inclusiveness, which had made all stakeholders in the state presently under the APC roof.
“The massive defection of opposition stakeholders to the APC on July 13 attests to the fact that persuasion works more than bickering and fighting,” he stated.
