Economic Hardship: States Get 20 Trucks Of Rice Each For Distribution - FG

In a bid to cushion the effect of the current economic hardship bedevilling the nation on citizens, the Federal Government has announced that all the 36 states in the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have been given 20 trucks of 25 kg rice each.

This was disclosed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which was presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

News About Nigeria reported that this batch of palliatives comes on the heels of economic hardship, fuel scarcity, hikes in prices of food items, and other challenges Nigerians are suffering from.

According to the Minister, the federal government distributed a total of 740 trucks containing 1,200 bags of 25kg rice to the 36 states of the federation and Abuja to help Nigerians who are hungry.

Giving details on the palliative, the Minister explained that the distribution of trucks of rice was also to ensure that the hardship in the country is ameliorated, adding that the state governors who would oversee the distribution are expected to ensure that the rice is given to those who need it the most.

Idris noted that the rice will be primarily distributed to the vulnerable and indigent in all the states in the country.

He also said that President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Agriculture to ensure that food is made available to Nigerians, adding that this is in line with his administration’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’
