Some People Are Fighting Abure Because He Is Too Good – Nasarawa LP

The Nasarawa State Chapter of the Labour Party has declared its support for the embattled national chairman, Julius Abure, News About Nigeria reports.

According to the party, some people have issues with Abure because he is too good and he is a transparent leader.

This comes amidst reports that the Labour Party National Transition Committee, established by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has withdrawn its backing for Abure’s leadership, citing procedural issues in his emergence as chairman.

During a press briefing in Lafia on Saturday, following the party’s executive council meeting, the Nasarawa State Labour Party Chairman, Alexander Ombugu, reaffirmed the state chapter’s loyalty to Abure.

Ombugu stated that the chairman’s difficulties stem from his transparent leadership style, which has made some people uncomfortable, leading them to push for his removal at all costs.

“On this issue happening at the national level of our dear party, what I will say is that all of us in the Nasarawa State Labour Party are solidly behind our National Chairman, Julius Abure. Some people are only fighting him because the man is too good. They are fighting him because he is a transparent leader. We love him and we will continue to stand by him,” Ombugu stated.

Expressing surprise at the NLC’s stance, Ombugu urged the congress to reconsider its position and support Abure.

“I am surprised that the NLC are having some issues with him. It should not be so because Abure has achieved a lot for the Labour Party. They should rather see how to support him to take the party to greater heights, instead of the disagreements which are capable of taking the party backwards,” he added.
