Kenya's President Sacks All Cabinet Members

William Ruto, the President of Kenya, has announced the dismissal of all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney-General, effective immediately.

News About Nigeria reports that the decision comes as the government marks two years since the launch of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

He said over the past two years, the government has made significant progress in various areas, including increasing food production and reducing costs, stabilising the economy and preventing debt default, implementing education reforms, and improving student-teacher ratios.

Ruto mentioned the launch of the Hustler Fund and Affordable Housing Programme, expanding manufacturing and value addition, accelerating digital transformation, and implementing Universal Health Coverage.

The President acknowledged the high expectations of the Kenyan people and the need for a more extensive transformation.

He said recent events have brought the government to an inflexion point, necessitating a review of the budget and fiscal management.

The President will engage in extensive consultations to set up a broad-based government that will accelerate the implementation of radical programmes to address debt, domestic resources, job opportunities, and corruption.

He added that Principal Secretaries and other officials will ensure the continued operation of government services during this transition.

The President promised to announce further measures in due course.

The move is seen as a significant shake-up in the government’s efforts to accelerate economic transformation and address the country’s challenges.

The President thanked Kenyans and expressed confidence in the country’s ability to achieve transformation and prosperity.

Recall that In June, a controversial finance bill sparked youth-led nationwide protests, with demonstrations taking a dramatic turn when protesters forced their way into parliament by breaking the fence.
