Peter Obi Donates N10 Million To Support Nursing Education In Kogi State

Peter Obi, a prominent Nigerian politician and presidential aspirant, has donated N10 million to Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State, to support the training of nurses, News About Nigeria reports.

Obi announced this contribution via a statement on his X account.

In his statement, Peter Obi stressed his unwavering commitment to building a better Nigeria through focused investments in key sectors such as health, education, and poverty alleviation.

The former Anambra State governor said that Nigeria’s underdevelopment is largely due to a lack of aggressive investments in these critical areas.

“As part of my ongoing commitment to nation-building through strategic investments in human and national development sectors, I recently visited Grimard College of Nursing Sciences in Anyigba, Kogi State, where I contributed N10 million to support their efforts,” Obi stated.

He praised Grimard College for its role in the nation’s primary healthcare sector, highlighting its dedication to training and nurturing healthcare professionals who positively impact society.

Obi also reiterated his consistent call for increased investment in health and education by governments at all levels and donor agencies.

“Our investment in the future of our children benefits society and promotes national progress. I am particularly concerned about the training of nurses, who are central to our primary healthcare delivery. With experts warning of a looming severe shortage of nurses, we must proactively invest in their education. This will ensure we have enough healthcare professionals for our domestic needs and can export skilled nurses to the global community,” he added.

Obi expressed gratitude to the proprietor, management, and staff of Grimard College for their dedication to training compassionate and competent healthcare professionals.

He encouraged the nursing students to remain focused and committed to their education.

“Our goal is to build a New Nigeria that provides access to quality healthcare and educational opportunities for all Nigerians. It is POssible,” Obi concluded.
