Police Arrest Suspected Murders, Armed Robbers In Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has released its achievement report, highlighting the successes recorded from July 2023 to date.

According to the report, the command has made progress in tackling various crimes and criminalities in the state.

News About Nigeria reports that the command has recorded a total of 1,148 cases and arrested 2,077 suspects in connection with various crimes, including armed robbery, culpable homicide, rape, kidnapping, and others.

Specifically, 100 armed robbery cases were recorded and 212 suspects arrested, while 136 culpable homicide cases were recorded and 271 suspects arrested.

Furthermore, the command rescued 171 kidnapped victims from their abductors and recovered several weapons and ammunition, including 37 AK47 rifles, 16 fabricated AK47 rifles, 317 live ammunition, and 250 Dane guns.

Other recoveries include 8 vehicles, 483 cow/sheep rustled, 2,116 different types of knives, and 3,419 different models of handheld phones.

The command’s mop-up operation in various locations, including Mansur/Magama, Yankari forest, Lere, Masussuka, and Gamji, resulted in the recovery of additional weapons and ammunition, including 377 rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, 65 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, 4 AK47 rifles, 1 fabricated and cut-to-size gun, 1 Sterling Mk4 SMG rifle, and 9 empty magazines.

The Commissioner of Police, CP MM Auwal, attributed the command’s successes to effective partnerships with the community, sister security agencies, and non-governmental organisations.

He urged the public to view security as a collective responsibility and support the Nigeria Police Force in its efforts to ensure a safe and secure environment for all.

The command has put in place crime preventive measures, including visibility policing, community partnership, constant raids of black spots, regular foot and vehicular patrols, surveillance on buildings and vulnerable areas, stop and search, and intelligence-led policing through partnership with sisters security agencies and other non-governmental organizations.
