Suspected Cultists Kill TASUED Student During Final Examination In Ogun

A final-year student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State, Ahmed Ayinla Fabiyi, was tragically killed by suspected cultists on Wednesday, News About Nigeria reports.

The incident occurred around 3 pm while Fabiyi, a student of the History and Diplomatic Studies Department, was preparing to sit for his final paper.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers, believed to be members of a rival cult group, entered the examination hall disguised as friends who came to surprise Fabiyi for his birthday. Under this pretence, they dragged him out of the hall.

Sources revealed that the tragic event was part of a renewed clash between the Eiye and Aiye cult groups.

The gang’s true intentions became evident when they started dragging Fabiyi towards a bushy area near the university’s technical workshop. There, they viciously beat and macheted him.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Ayotunde Odubela, confirmed the incident, saying, “Everyone thought they were celebrating his birthday until he was dragged to the bushy part of the institution’s technical workshop and attacked. The school security unit was contacted, but by the time they arrived, Fabiyi had been severely beaten and macheted. When the attackers saw the security men approaching, they fled, leaving Fabiyi behind.”

She added that Fabiyi was immediately taken to the school medical center, then referred to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode, and subsequently to Babcock University Teaching Hospital.

Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

The institution has reported the incident to the police.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that an investigation has begun, and raids on suspected cultists’ hideouts in the area have been launched.

Fabiyi, who was also a former students’ leader under the aegis of the Students Union Government (SUG) at the institution, was remembered by his peers and faculty as a dedicated and promising student.
