The Labour Party says its modernising its membership registration process by introducing a mobile app.

News About Nigeria reports that this app enables Nigerians worldwide to register as party members remotely, promoting convenience and accessibility.

The party app also aims to enhance communication and validation processes between members and party leaders, fostering a more connected and engaged community.

According to a statement signed by Ambassador Aju Elumelu, Deputy Director of Media and Communications of the Labour Party Mobilisation & Integration Directorate, the app will provide a platform for members to access exclusive content, participate in party activities, and receive updates.

It will also enhance the party’s fundraising efforts, as members can donate and support the party’s activities directly through the app.

Elumelu stated, “The teeming population of our members and potential members, both in Nigeria and the diaspora, expect digital solutions that are easy to use, secure, and accessible on-the-go. With this app, they can register, track their membership status, and stay informed about party information and activities.”

In a proposal signed by the Director General, Mr. Marcel Ngogbehei, and sent to the LP National Working Committee (NWC) through the party’s National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, the Labour Party Directorate on Mobilisation and Integration emphasised the need to transform the party’s operations into a world-class organisation comparable to international standards.

The party’s National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, which is expected to enhance the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.

According to Abure, the app will enable the party to capture accurate and verifiable data on its members, aiding in planning and decision-making.

“This platform will provide real-time membership figures across the globe at any point in time, indicating the party’s membership and voting strength.

“We propose developing a mobile application that will streamline the registration process, facilitate membership profile management, and provide a platform for engagement between party members and leaders. This app will be a game-changer for our party, enabling us to mobilize millions of Nigerians,” he said.

The LP Directorate on Mobilisation & Integration has set a target to mobilise millions of intending members into the party within the shortest possible time, and the mobile app is seen as a key tool in achieving this goal.
