Borno Govt Condemns Bomb Attack In State 

The Borno state government has condemned the suicide bombing attack that happened in the Gwoza Area of the state, News About Nigeria reports

The acting governor of Borno, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, disclosed this while speaking during a visit to the victims of the suicide bomb blast in Gwoza, Borno.

Kadafur, who was accompanied by Sen. Ali Ndume, Ahmadu Jaha, Member Representing Damboa, Gwoza, and Chibok Federal Constituency, and other government officials, visited the State Specialist Hospital, where the injured victims are receiving treatment.

Recall that the bombing attack was carried out on Saturday by suspected female suicide bombers who struck a wedding, a hospital, and a funeral in Gwoza, a town near the border with Cameroon.

Reacting to the news, the acting governor condemned the attack, stating that the perpetrators of the act took advantage of the laxity of vigilance by the people following the relative peace achieved in the state.

He disclosed that the state government has settled the medical bills of the victims and is ensuring they receive adequate medical attention, adding that 42 victims were admitted to the hospital.

Kadafur, however, stated that two persons lost their lives, while 16 people have been discharged, and 24 are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

He, therefore, urged appealed to the people to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movement or persons they notice in their area to security personnel to avoid a similar occurrence of the incident.

Speaking on Sunday, the Borno State Police Command spokesman, Nahum Daso, said that three blasts took place on Saturday in Gwoza.
