Peter Obi Attends Mr Ibu's Burial In Enugu

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi, attended the burial of veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, in Enugu State on Friday, News About Nigeria reports.

The burial of the actor, who died in March after a prolonged illness that led to the amputation of one of his legs, was held in his hometown of Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Recall that Mr Ibu’s death threw many into mourning, as the actor was one of the veterans who made growing up fun for many Nigerians.

The actor, who is survived by his wife, children, and other family members, died at the age of 62.

At Mr Ibu’s burial today, the former Anambra state governor made a grand entrance as his arrival was met with fervent cheers from his supporters, momentarily lifting the heavy mood with their spirited chant.

Obi also took to his X account to pray that the soul of the deceased actor rest in peace while praying that God would give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

He wrote, “I was in Amuri, Nkanu West LGA of Enugu State today to pay my last respects to the talented Nollywood actor John Okafor a.k.a (Mr. Ibu) I joined the Okafor family, the Nollywood Entertainment family and other mourners to bid farewell to the Late Veteran Nollywood Actor who was laid to rest. May God who called him home, at this time, grant him eternal rest, and grant his family, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, and all of us, the fortitude to bear his sad irreplaceable loss. May God protect and bless his family always.”

Others present at the burial are veteran actor Victor Osuagwu, Mr. Ibu’s colleague and friend Charles Inojie, Charles Aurum, and Patience Ozuokwor, among many others.
