Former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephine Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has advised single women to avoid settling for broke men, News About Nigeria reports.
In a recent post on her X (formerly Twitter) account, the reality star urged Nigerian ladies to either marry rich men or strive to make their own money.
Phyna wrote, “Las las marry who get money oooh Or you try get money ooooh as a woman. E get why. (Ready for the drags).”
Her post has sparked mixed reactions, with many criticising her for what they perceived as “insensitive” advice.
Despite the backlash, Phyna remained undisturbed, stating she was prepared for any criticism.

The reality star, who recently faced social media scrutiny after sharing vacation pictures from The Maldives, defended her actions in May 2024, insisting she had not contradicted any of her previous statements.
According to her, “Nigerians just want to ‘show themselves’, because it’s me. I only kicked against setting a camera and ring light and dressing in front of it in the name of ‘Get Ready With Me’ video. In all of this, I love their tears. They should bring it on.”
Phyna has often spoken about men who have tried to date her or get intimate with her by offering lavish gifts.
She noted that such men assumed she was cheap, which she attributed to their upbringing around women who “sold themselves for money”.
Phyna stressed that she came from a strong, hardworking background, stating, “Like I said, it is hate (reactions she has been getting) but it is not their fault that they grew up around women that sold themselves for money, so I really don’t blame them. I grew up as a strong woman and a hustler. I love to enjoy the money I made from working hard, so I politely put them in their place, violently (laughs).”
