Akpabio Debunks Claims Of New Aircraft Purchase Amid Economic Hardship

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied reports that the 10th Senate plans to procure a new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

News About Nigeria reports that Akpabio made this clarification while speaking to journalists in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

He was in Maiduguri to pay a condolence visit to Senator Tahir Monguno over the death of his father.

Last week, media reports emerged quoting Akpabio as saying the Senate would approve the purchase of new aircraft for the President and Vice President despite widespread poverty in Nigeria.

Akpabio dismissed the reports as propaganda and misinformation spread by “fifth columnists.”

He said that the Senate is focused on passing legislation that supports President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Akpabio expressed satisfaction with the current security situation in Borno State.

He urged Nigerians to continue praying for the success of the present administration.

Akpabio’s media aide, Jackson Udom, released a statement containing the Senate President’s comments.

Akpabio said, “I want to dispel the rumour that you are hearing that the Senate President said he will buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, irrespective of the fact that Nigerians are hungry or whatever.

“I never said that. I was actually in Zanzibar, Tanzania, It is the handiwork of propagandists and fifth columnists, who never see anything good in what we are doing. Be rest assured, pray for the government, have patience and be assured that the combination of Tinubu and Shettima will bring wealth and prosperity to all.”

“I am happy to see that peace has returned to Borno, as a result of the hard work of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I want to tell the good people of Borno to continue to support the administration,” he added.
