On Monday, President Bola Tinubu commiserated with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and his family over the death of his mother-in-law, Hajiya Maryam Abubakar Albishir.
News About Nigeria had reported that the 69-year-old mother-in-law of the vice president died on Sunday evening in Kano State after a prolonged illness.
She is said to have been buried this afternoon, according to Islamic rites.
The President, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, mourned the deceased Hajiya Maryam, noting that she lived a life worthy of emulation while she was alive.
President Tinubu also celebrated her legacy, adding that she was a philanthropist who lived her life for the good of others and society.
Tinubu therefore prayed for the repose of the soul of the dead, adding that God would grant her family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The statement partly reads, “The President not only mourns the deceased but also celebrates her legacies of philanthropy and good virtues. While praying for the repose of the soul of the late Hajiya Maryam, President Tinubu urges the family to take solace in the remarkable life the departed matriarch lived.”
Similarly, former President Muhammadu Buhari has also expressed his condolences to Shettima and his family over their loss.
His condolence was contained in a statement released by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, to the ex-president.
In the statement, former President Buhari expressed his deepest sympathy to Shettima, encouraging him to remain steadfast during this difficult time.
