In an attack on Monday afternoon, bandits invaded the Bauda and Chibiya communities in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, leaving six people dead and several others kidnapped, News About Nigeria reports.

The bandits, armed with sophisticated weapons and riding motorcycles, launched their assault on the unsuspecting villages, killing residents and burning down houses.

The incident was confirmed by Ibrahim Gajere, the local government chairman, in a statement obtained by newsmen on Tuesday.

The victims were identified as Mamuda Tanimu from Ungwan Sarki, Yusuf Paul from Bauda, Amuse Wasika, Laraba Timothy, and Saratu Amuse, all from Chibiya, along with an unidentified visitor.

The bandits killed two individuals in Bauda and three in Chibiya, with one person yet to be identified. The attack also resulted in property damage. Seven residential houses and eight motorcycles were set ablaze.

The affected residents include Paul Anthony, Yusuf Paul, Hosea Moni, Victor Yusuf, Benedict Paul, Yohanna Moni, and Joseph Yusuf.

Gajere noted that most of the victims were working on their farms when they were attacked, although two were killed in their homes.

He added that security operatives have been notified and have intensified patrols within and around the affected areas to prevent further incidents.

Despite efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comments, calls, and text messages from our correspondent, they went unanswered at the time of this report.

This attack follows a similar incident in February, when bandits invaded the Gindin Duste Makyali community in Kaduna, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people.
