A 60-year-old man, simply identified as Christian, has been arrested by operatives of the Abia State Police Command for raping an 8-year-old girl, identified as Miss Princess, in Umuodukwu village in the Obingwa council area of Abia State, News About Nigeria reports.
The Head of Umuonyero Kindred in Umuodukwu Village, Hon. Prince Ndubueze, disclosed this to newsmen, stating that the suspect had raped the 8-year-old three times this year before he was caught in the act.
He noted that the suspect, who is a tenant in the village, was caught in the act by some youths and has been handed over to the police in Aba.
Ndubueze also disclosed that the man confessed to the crime without being beaten by any resident, adding that the suspect was also arrested in the past for the same offence.
He revealed that the suspect had committed the same crime four years ago while he was living in his former residence near the village, and added that the suspect is a serial rapist.
“The suspect is a tenant in Umuodukwu village. He is married. The youths caught him while he was raping an 8-year-old girl at about 11 pm. During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime, saying that it was the third time he was raping the 8-year-old girl.
“We also discovered that he committed the same offence four years ago while he was living in his former residence near the village. He is a serial rapist. We handed him over to the Police in Aba,” he stated.
