Ahead of this year’s Eid el-Kabir festival, President Bola Tinubu will today (Friday) depart the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja for Lagos.
News About Nigeria reports that the president will spend his Sallah holiday in Lagos State.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the spokesman to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, on Friday.
The statement said that the president will pray and take some time to consider his journey thus far during the holiday season.
“The President will mark the occasion with prayers and reflection on advancing the transformation of Nigeria in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement partly reads.
In the statement, the President wished all Muslim faithful across the country a happy Eid el-Kabir celebration, enjoining them not to forget the reason for the celebration and to continue to pray for the nation even while they celebrate.
He further tasked them to spread love to their neighbours and everyone around them in obedience to Allah’s commandment.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday, June 16, as Eid el-Kabir day after affirming that Friday is the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
The Sultan made the declaration in a statement released on Friday by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs to the Sultanate Council, Sambo Junaid, in Sokoto State.
“His Eminence, the Sultan felicitates Nigeria’s Muslim Ummah and wishes them Allah’s guidance and blessings. The Sultan, while urging the Muslim Ummah to continue to pray for peace, progress, and the development of the country, also wishes all Muslims a happy Eid-El-Kabir. May Allah (SWT) accept our religious deeds, amen,” the Sultanate Council said in the statement.
