Auto Crash Claim Two Lives In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Four people have lost their lives in an auto crash at Famgbe 2 on the Yenagoa-Oporoma road in Bayelsa State, News About Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed by an eyewitness who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity on Monday, according to Vanguard.

The eyewitness stated that the accident occurred after a speeding Toyota Sienna left its lane and collided head-on with a tricycle on the road.

He noted that the Toyota Sienna was driving in the direction of Oporoma while the tricycle was returning to Yenagoa after 7:00 pm on Monday when the crash occurred.

The driver of the tricycle and the passengers all lost their lives, while none of the occupants of the Sienna sustained any injuries.

According to him, heavy rainfall and poor visibility could have also contributed to the accident on a bend in the road, a scene of several previous accidents.

He also disclosed that it took some time before residents responded to the emergency due to the rain and growing darkness, adding that the delay also led to the loss of lives.

The eyewitness noted that some lives would have been saved if they had received urgent and immediate medical attention after the incident.

When contacted about the development, the Bayelsa Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, stated that the command had not been briefed on the incident.

Bayelsa State has, however, placed a ban on the operations of tricycles beyond 7 pm, but the directive is often ignored by some tricyclists who operate beyond the ban, especially outside the state capital, Yenagoa.
