Kaduna Government Announces Successful Military Strike Against Bandits

Four policemen and several others have reportedly been killed in an attack from bandits in the Gidan Boka village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, News About Nigeria reports.

The Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement, stating that the attack happened on Sunday, at about 3p.m.

He noted that the bandits, who attacked the community armed with dangerous weapons, killed about 20 villagers, two policemen and left two others with injuries.

He added that while responding to a distress call, a police patrol team in an Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) was ambushed by the bandits near Kurmeji village via Yar Goje.

“The slain security personnel include three police inspectors, one corporal, and two members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps,” he stated.

He further explained that the patrol team, initially dispatched to Gidan Baki village, discovered the actual target to be Gidan Boka village and redirected their route, but unfortunately, they were ambushed upon reaching Kurmeji village, resulting in a firefight.

The bandits reportedly killed five more people while escaping through Dan Nakwabo village.

The state Commissioner of Police, Musa Aliyu, have expressed condolences to the families of the victims and has vowed to work with relevant stakeholders to apprehend the perpetrators.

He maintained that the force will put in maximum efforts to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and face the full wrath of the law, adding that the lives of the slain officers and residents will not go in vain.

He also confirmed the deployment of additional operational assets to the area to prevent further attacks.
