Suspected Cultists Apprehended In Ogun

An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested by the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Friday, June 7, following a quick operation.

News About Nigeria reports that the suspect was accused of stealing LED road stud lights from the recently reconstructed Third Mainland Bridge.

The suspect, Mubarak Abdullahi, a resident of Makoko, was found with ten LED road stud lights, which are installed to enhance road visibility.

Abdullahi was reportedly caught in the act by RRS operatives patrolling the bridge.

The arrest was part of heightened security measures implemented by CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad.

In recent weeks, bike riders have been deployed on 24-hour patrols to monitor traffic and protect infrastructure on the bridge.

“The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has directed the squad’s bike riders to commence a 24-hour patrol of the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, as a way of protecting the infrastructure on the bridge as well as preventing the incidence of harassment of road users by miscreants.

“This is in line with the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, to the squad for the protection of lives, property, and public infrastructure on the newly renovated bridge.

“CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi appealed to motorists and road users to cooperate with the riders so that they can serve them better,” RRS said in a statement.

The arrest of Abdullahi comes about a month after one Friday Nwafor was arrested for committing a similar offence on the bridge.

CSP Egbeyemi has emphasised the importance of safeguarding public property and ensuring the safety of road users through vigilant policing efforts.
