A man, simply identified as Austine, has died after being electrocuted in a wine bar in Rivers State, News About Nigeria reports.

It was reported that the tragic incident happened on Wednesday at a popular wine bar located in Rumuekini Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Austine, who hails from Kogi State, lost his life while he was working in the bar, fixing an electric fault, as he was an electrician.

Staff members of the wine bar were thrown into panic immediately after the incident occurred and reported the development to the Choba Police Division, after which officers were dispersed to the scene.

The police retrieved the corpse of the deceased and carried out an on-the-spot assessment of the scene.

The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident.

She stated that preliminary investigations have been carried out, and further investigations will go on.

She also noted that the corpse of the deceased has been retrieved and deposited in the mortuary.
