Operatives of the Plateau State Police Command have foiled the attempts of kidnappers in the Fangha community, Daffo District, Bokkos local government area of the state, News About Nigeria reports.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
He noted that the two suspected kidnappers were intercepted while trying to kidnap their victims and were shot dead by the police.
He stated that the station had received a distress call in the early hours of Monday morning from a citizen who reported the incident, adding that a team of officers and other security groups were immediately dispersed to the scene.
“On 03/06/2024 at about 5:30 am, we received a distress call from a patriotic citizen who reported that some hoodlums suspected to be kidnappers were operating in the Fangha area of Daffo District, Bokkos LGA.
“A team of policemen and other security help groups went to the scene of the incident where they engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel, and two of the hoodlums were neutralised in the process, while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” he stated.
He further stated that ammunition was recovered from the suspects, including one locally fabricated revolver gun loaded with four 7.62mm rounds of ammunition, two phones, one dagger, and one knife.
He assured the people that the command would intensify its effort to apprehend the suspects who escaped the scene and urged them to go about their daily activities without fear.
“Efforts are intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects,” he added.
